Understanding Dietitian CEU Requirements
To maintain your credentials, registered dietitians must complete 75 continuing education units (CEUs) every five years. But beyond just meeting a requirement, CEUs are meant to be an opportunity to stay up to date with the latest research, expand your skills, and grow in your career.
The challenge is that not all CEUs are created equal. Some issues dietitians commonly face include:
- Lack of time: Juggling work, personal responsibilities, and professional development can feel overwhelming. Especially if it’s overly self-paced.
- Uninspiring courses: Some CEU options are outdated, too general, or don’t offer practical takeaways.
- Finding relevant topics: Some CEU courses don’t address real issues that dietitians face in practice.
- High costs: Paying for multiple CEU courses can add up quickly.

A New Approach to Earning CEUs with Live Learning Labs
To make CEUs more engaging and practical, Dietitian Success Center will now be offering live, interactive CEU workshops throughout the year.
How It Works:
We’re planning four live Learning Labs per year (one per quarter):
- Pre- and post-workshop assignments to reinforce learning
- Designed for dietitians in all practice areas with practical, real-world applications
- Aiming for 5 CEUs for each session
These sessions are included in the DSC Practitioner Tier Membership, meaning members don’t need to search for separate CEU courses or spend extra money on continuing education. You can access the dietitian CEU workshops alongside all of the time-saving resources DSC offers our Practitioner members including client handouts, nutrition video courses, evidence summaries and nutrition cheat sheets.
